Lowrance 112-362 iWay 500C Portable GPS Navigator and MP3 PlayerUser Review: - I can't find the place!I travel all over a state for work and playtime (back roads, schools, trails, racetracks). 85% of my routes are found immediately. Some places and addrresses I have trouble with, but I have noticed that most of those times I had entered the address wrong or had the street name a bit different. I love my navigation system. I am LOST literally and emotionally with out it. User Review: - Husband loves it!!After looking around at several GPS systems, we saw this one on display at a local store. Not only was it an excellent GPS device but also has the 10G MP3 capability. Amazon had it for the best price, and was lucky enough to also purchase at the time of a $100 rebate. So all was great! When it arrived, we honestly didn't know how heavy the unit was, it IS heavy! and it's a pretty good size, but sat nicely on top of the dash. We didn't like the idea of cords hanging to plug the unit in, so we had the base and wires permanently installed to our existing radio system in the truck. I have to say, my husband is like a kid in the candy store with this unit,, it shows everything, places we figured would not be listed, they were, at the touch of the screen, you know the name of whatever object you are touching, i.e. lake, landmark. The screen is very easily read, day or night, it dims for your convenience at night. The MP3 player is just as good as any we have heard on the market, so we have NO complaints on this unit at all! User Review: - Jim T's experience with iWAY GPSFeatures are great. Screen size is nice and large, easy to respond to touch and to view. Color is rich. My issues are with the reliability and consistency of the software performance. Frequently, when booting up it can't find the satellites and gets hung up "searching for position". This occurs even though I am driving and changing directions and positions, so it's not a temporary signal block. To fix, I power off and power back up in a reboot mode. Not a big deal, except the unit now returns to "factory settings' and you have to reset any customized items. Occasionally, when powering up, the screen stays blank for several minutes or it takes unusually long to load the software. If you are a heavy user, this all could be quite annoying User Review: - Lowrance high techAbsolutely amazing! Used it on vacation and never missed a turn. Great voice cues, night low light mode (being automatic would make it better) and endless supply of saved directory locations. Automatic zoom is wonderful, zooming in when you slow down and out when you are at speed. I never felt unsure of where I was or where I was going. Easily portable. Great fun for OCD people - you always know how far away you are and how long it will take you to get there. User Review: - It Worked Then It Died !!!I just recieied the Lowrance i Way 500 GPS for a birthday gift, and I liked the large scren and easy out of the box features. The multi brightness screen selection is very nice. The lights that illuminate the 5 control buttons on the right side of the unit are "half lit" and make it impossible to see at night. A hood would be a great option for dayrime screen use. (Hoodman.com is a great company that could fix this problem). My unit worked for an only an hour wonderfully, then I shut it off, went for lunch and had the screen blow out on start up. I Dont know why, but could not use the unit any longer to get to my location. Its heavy all right, but if it works, who cares, the screen is easy to read in the sun, but would be easier with a hood. Now I just have to get one that works and I will be happy and on my way. The power cord is located too low on the rear of the unit and gets in the way when finding a "position" to mount/locate unit in the vehicle, and the two rubber covers that cover the computer port and antenna are cheesey and dont seat well. The The speaker in the cigarette lighter power adapter has a bit cheap and could be built into the unit. A better mounting sytem is needed because the unit is so heavy it juggles no matter what it is resting on or mounted too. |
