Lowrance 112-362 iWay 500C Portable GPS Navigator and MP3 PlayerUser Review: - Even better than expected-Lowrance i500 GPSThe navigator has all of the advertised features and more and all are very easy to use after just a few minutes going through the menus. The display is clear, even in bright light, and the options on what or how to display are terrific. I'm sorry that I waited so long to buy one. User Review: - Great sceen size and softwareI had my iWay for seven months and loved the software and the size of the screen. The weight of the unit was a bit of a problem when taking it in and out when staying in motels; however, I new it was heavy when I got it so dealt with that issue without much grumbling. The problem that finally caused me to send the unit back to Lowrance was the power cord. I found the multiple pin connection difficult to connect and disconnect constantly while removing it from my vehicle. I also did not like the speaker placement at the end of the power cord, which required my placing the speaker way down in front of the gear shift lever. All in all, these were not fatal issues for me until my second power cord went bad and I spent over an hour on hold during three seperate calls to customer service to attempt to obtain a third power cord. To Lowrance's credit, they were very fast to respond and the customer service folks were very kind and patient with my frustration regarding the long wait times. I finally decided to send the unit back, due to my unpleasant experience with long wait times and the failure of two power cords, for a refund and received a refund check less than two weeks after I sent the unit back. If you don't mind the weight of the unit, the big screen is a plus and the software is great. I think using a more durable connection and better placement of the speakers would make this GPS a four or five star unit. User Review: - Trouble ProneHad it 2 weeks used it 6 times and had to send it back. I had a noise coming through the speaker that drowned out the navigator's voice. It almost sounded like a motorcycle. When it worked, I absolutely loved it. The directions were clear and concise and being told to turn at the street's name is nice too. It aquired its signal in less than 30 seconds everytime. Learning the interface was a breeze too. However, it is very heavy. And putting it on and taking it off of the Ram windshield's suction cup was very tedious. I expected the heaviness but I did not expect the difficulty of the suction cup placement and removal. So, I returned it and I am getting ready to purchase a Nav One 2750 or a Magellan 800. Can't decide on which one yet, though. User Review: - 5 Stars +++++++This is an outstanding product! Great screen size, which is readable in all lighting conditions. MP3 player portion works well. Much better product then my TomTom Go 700. User Review: - Great Product but...I returned the item because it was not suitable for me. Although it's easy to use, accurate, rugged and included a well detailed map of the US, but I had two problems with it. First, a minor problem is that it doesn't run on batteries so any move with the power cable will turn it off, and if you plug it at home it's from wall to adapter then to voice then to GPS device. Second, and most importantly to me, it's impossible to find a software that helps you download your trails and update your maps, feature that is a must for me as i use it overseas and not in the US and i do a lot of offroading and i need to edit my trails and trace my own routes. However, I recommend this item for anyone who doesn't have my personal requirements. |
