TomTom GO 300 Portable GPS Navigator with Maps of US Pre-loaded on SDdUser Review: - Tom Tom a Go Go!!With the great disappointment from the Garmin C330 DOA, out of the box and immediate satisfaction came with this TomTom 300 unit. It has many languages, voices, and great shortcuts for local roads. This unit has a durable support arm, easily usable touchscreen and simple route instructions with modes to tailor the route to eliminate IE: toll roads. The voice prompts are highly accurate and hold true to instruction within 100~200 yards. I am still figuring out the compass and car speed and why they are not there on the screen. The unit takes SD cards and I believe some can be ordered for other areas. Overall, I am highly impressed with this. User Review: - Great GPS...Service and support SUCKS!I bought this GPS as a gift for my wife because of it's reported ease of use and the ability to buy and download additional voices. I have problems with the TomTom website. Using any computer it is impossible to make a purchase.. after registering for the site and figuring out which "code" they are asking for... There are at least three cryptic codes you will need, One on the unit, one on the display buried deep in the menus, and yet a third on a seperate "product code card"! What are they trying to do here other than frustrate the user. After all this I can finally shop online and purchase the voice to download and find nothing but shopping cart errors on the web site making it impossible to purchase any voices or accessories. I wouldn't complain here but there is no contact information on the website and no support number in any of the manuals that I could find. I won't even begin to comment on upgrading... Do not buy any TomTom items untill they get their act together and improve customer service and support. User Review: - Easy to use and smaller than expectedI got this for my wife, and ease of setup and ease of use were a top priority. The out of box experience was excellent - I pushed the on button and it walked us through the basic functions. That was it. It is smaller than I thought it would be. If you put two and a half US sized business cards next to each other you will just about have the size of the front panel. It has a very nice speaker and the voice that gives directions is crisp. My wife chose a woman with a british accent (there are twenty or so to choose from). User Review: - Easy to use on your vacation. We just got back from a week in Oahu. If you have ever tried to get onto the freeways or navigate around Honolulu you know how crazy the streets are. The TomTom saved us a lot of stress guiding us to beaches, a wedding, restaurants and even to Costco. Now TomTom did have a few problems, telling us to turn left across a concrete barrier and not recognizing some addresses as valid, but even then TomTom just replotted a new route. Signal strength was strong except among the high rise hotels in Waikiki. To get the most out of this product you need to actually read the "map" in real time and correlate the "map" with the actual roadways that you are seeing. A word of warning, the maps of Hawaii are not preinstalled, but are included on the CD. The Hawaii map does fit on the included flash memory card along with the US map. A word of caution: I did encounter some delay in having Windows XPP SP2 recognize the TomTom and I was not able to successfully back up the TomTom to Windows. Despite these difficulties I am still giving the TomTom 5 Stars for putting the fun back into our vacation. User Review: - Great product, no regret.I bought TomTom Go 300 one month ago and I don't go to mapquest any more. I works fine as you open the box and connect power. Howerver, during the day time, it is kinda hard to see it and I think it depends on where you put it. I installed it on Toyota Sienna and the minivan has deeper winshield so it was far from the driver seat. I manage to put it on the dash board right beside the air condition fan, it got much better. Overall, it worth the money. |
