Magellan RoadMate 760 Portable GPS NavigatorUser Review: - Not working in less than a yearI bought this product less than a year ago and it is already not picking up a sattelite. I have tried customer service and the website to me was very confusing at first and to call was even worse. It has been broke for over a month now and I am going crazy. I love the thing when it works but this short of a life span before I need to get it fixed is concerning. User Review: - Horrible Customer ServiceI researched several GPS systems before purchasing the Magellan Roadmate 760. We found several quirks in the maps. For example it sometimes tells us to drive beyond our destination and turn around; other times, it routes us several miles out of our way, backtracking well away from the most direct route unless we select a mid-point stop along the way. Then, just 8 months after purchase, the unit "froze" stating it was too cold to operate (the car was at a steady 68 degrees and has been since we started using the unit). Tech support is a nightmare. The call center is in India, difficult to understand and totally useless for providing even the simplest of information such as a return authorization number (unless you call back) or tracking numbers for items that "supposedly" have been shipped back to you. I'm still waiting for my under-warranty unit to be returned. You can't contact the repair center directly, you can't talk to anyone that isn't in India. What kind of company hides from their customers? IMHO, one that doesn't care, expects to go out of business, and doesn't realize that word of mouth is going to destroy them. When my system is finally returned, I'm not giving them another chance. Any other failures will drive me to a competitor before I'll battle through their so called customer service system again. The only reason I'm still battling through it now is because it's under warranty. User Review: - Doesn't work and lousy customer supportAt first, I loved this GPS. It worked great. After about 6 months the problems started. The unit started freezing up. Couldn't power it off, had to pull the power to restart. Then it would take forever to start up again. Go a few miles then freeze again. Not what you want to have happen when you are traveling the Germany Autobahn or the Italian Autostrada as turnarounds are few and far between. When I contacted customer support, got no real answer, just that it was probably a satellite issue or too many powerlines causing the problem. It got worse and worse, not it pretty much freezes on start up and customer support still says that it is a satellite issue and to use an external antenna (I've tried it, still have the problem.) I have purchased a different GPS for now and have had no such problems with that unit (Navigon 6000). I have contacted Magellan again for support but still have not received an reply from them as to how to even ship the d**n thing back for repair. As of right now I have a $900 paperweight. User Review: - Don't Buy!I've had this unit for about 14 months. At first, it worked relatively well. Now, it just seems to take forever to find a satellite signal and it powers off automatically nearly every time I use it. Tech. support was useless. I'm in the process of replacing it with another brand. I won't buy a Magellan again. User Review: - It really sucksThis GPS really sucks. This must be the worst GPS in the world. When I take I-35 in Austin, it keeps saying u-turn in some specific areas. Eventually, I found myself circling around in I-35. When I try to go to Houston, it keeps saying u-turn though I already take the right direction. So I had to turn it off. When I want to go somewhere by address, I can not type some specific address since it only takes up to 5000. But the address is like 7500. It is really hard to use this GPS since you will not find some street names. So that makes me really frustrated. You will really regret if you buy it. |
